Q & A

  • A risk manager identifies, assesses and mitigates risks to an organization’s financial, operational and reputational risks. This often involves working with management to set a risk appetite and putting a trigger mechanism around that. A risk management function is part of good governance and attracts curious and outspoken professionals.

  • You put “skins” on the bottom of your skis and hike up the hill, then take them off and ski down. It’s also known as alpine touring, ski mountaineering, or skimo. It gives you access to backcountry, but I also love it on groomed downhill runs, as the sun is coming up. Nothing better than sunrise and first tracks. Many ski hills offer it. The picture is from Saranac Lake’s 3P Challenge, where uphill is the first stage, followed by biking (hence the helmet), x/c skiing, biking, paddling and then running. :-)
